Federal meal waivers from the USDA for the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs that have been in place during the COVID-19 pandemic expired.
What does this mean for Parents and Guardians?
- Beginning with the 2022-2023 school year, students will no longer receive free lunch (unless they qualify for free or reduced-price meals).
- Your student must be eligible for free or reduced-price meals through direct certification or a completed free or reduced-price meal application. The application will be available to complete beginning August 1, 2022. The most efficient way to apply is the electronic version on PaySchools Central. If you need a paper copy, please contact Lowell Perkins at 740-695-2477.
- If your student was previously eligible, either by direct certification or an application, that status carries over for the first 30 days of the new school year. If you have questions or want to know your student's status, please contact Lowell Perkins at 740-695-2477 or by email (firstname.lastname@example.org).
IMPORTANT NOTE: These applications also determine your child's eligibility for reduced or waived FEES. You must complete the application, or you will not be considered for reduced or waived school fees.
